THE
HEAD OF PEOPLE’S PARTY STEPAN DEMIRCHIAN ASSURES.- Mr. Demirchian,
it is spoken more and more often about formation a new opposition format, is it
real and what problems will that new format solve?- You must ask your question
to those powers which, as you say, speak more and more often about new formats.
In general a normal working atmosphere is in the "Justice" bloc. The
"Justice" has worked and will work and we try to make the activities
of "Justice" more progressive. I want to mention that being in one format
and bloc it isn’t correct to speak about a new format. At the same time we are
ready to collaborate with different political powers without formation of new
formats. In general the blocs are formed during elections. The collaboration for
certain aims and activities is another case. – Anyway, the representatives
of the same "Justice" bloc’s member political powers don’t deny that
they negotiate for a new format. Does it mean that some political powers may separate
from the bloc and become the member of another union? What will happen in that
case?- You, in the main, ask about a thing that doesn’t exist. It doesn’t
oppress the members of the bloc to collaborate with other political powers. At
the same time if you are in the bloc you must act corresponding with principles
of the bloc. I ask for getting me rid of unavailing conversations about formats,
my standpoint is clear: I don’t keep anyone by force. I think we must respect
the votes of the people and strengthen the "Justice" bloc, which is
able to solve its problems and not to talk about new formats. – Will the "Justice"
bloc take part in the NA spring session? Is it possible the fraction will put
aside the mandates? – The issues and aims of our bloc are the same and haven’t
been changed. We took part in the NA sitting where the issue on sending military
forces to Iraq was discussed. We also signed for discussing the issue of deposits
in the NA agenda but it mustn’t be concluded that we had stopped boycotting. We
have always mentioned we’ll express our standpoints on important issues and haven’t
excepted our participation in discussing separate issues. What refers to mandates
"the "Justice" has got the vote of the people and if the elections
weren’t falsified it would be produced in larger composition in the NA and the
mandates must put aside those who got it by illegalities and falsifications, it
isn’t only spoken about deputies. – How do you interpret the resignation of
Albert Bazeyan from the post of the city soviet chairman of "Republic"
party? A standpoint was sounded in the press that your ally "Republic"
would take a decision to go out from the bloc in March. – I’ll say about last
part of your question that those are simply conversations without any bases. What
about Albert Bazeyan I don’t consider it proper to interpret the activities that
happen in other parties. I can only say that we have only personal and working
good relations and I respect him as a decent and principle man.- Is the "Justice"
going to activate political activities? What issues are you going to discuss in
the coming session?- The "Justice’ will continue its active political
activities. I think the bloc will form a general approach in connection with the
constitutional changes in today’s sitting.- According to some analyzers if
the Armenian opposition determined its orientation to the West in time it would
be in the same situation as it happened in Georgia and Ukraine.- Unfortunately,
the simple and false analyzes are too much, it is meaningless to return to that
once more, I’ll simply say that the logic of our steps flows out from our reality.
We have trusted and will trust in our people, our policy shows the interests of
our state and people. Simply the success may come sooner or later. It hasn’t happened
at once in the Ukraine. But the main is consistency, which exists in the "Justice"
bloc. We are sure the democracy will triumph in Armenia. It is simply inevitable.
