Interview
with Artashes Geghamian- Mr. Geghamian, factually the "Republic"
party invited all opposition powers to organize revolution, will the "National
Unity" accept the invitation of the "Republic"?- Let’s record
the fact that after presidential elections in 2003 as the "Republic"
party as well as "National Unity" and all parties of the opposition
field had the same opinion that we had non-legitimate president and after parliamentary
elections non-legitimate National Assembly. In that period we adopted a slogan
acceptable for all of us about getting rid of this non-legitimate authority. The
popular uprising succeeded it, which was crushed on 12-13 of April in 2004. If
we try to compare the remarks of this uprising of international community with
the remarks, which were given to the events in Georgia and Ukraine, then we must
be blind not to record an essential fact, nowadays non-legitimate authority is
profitable for those international organizations, which assisted Georgia and Ukraine
but didn’t assist Armenia. And when do non-legitimate authorities satisfy international
organizations, when those organizations have decisions, which must be achieved.
In case of Armenia these are the approaches and decisions of the NK conflict settlement
which were taken in 2001 during the 5 and half hours lasted Kocharian-H. Aliev-J.
Shirak negotiations and then in spring in 2001 during the Collin Powell-George
Bush-Kocharian-H. Aliev meeting in Key West. After all the international community
has not only changed its approaches and positions but has made it stronger what
we saw in May 2005, in Warsaw during Kocharian-Ilham Aliev- Cochairmen of Minsk
group- Sergey Lavrov- Yudrin meeting where a decision was taken to withdraw NK
military forces of self-defense from 7 occupied territories. There are principle
arrangements on the most important issue for the OSCE, CE, which satisfy those
countries and not Armenia and they won’t assist the people of Armenia for not
loosing their efforts. So let record this reality. And also the reality that the
authorities of Armenia for hiding the poverty of their own policy will try to
make the opposition political powers responsible saying that they destabilized
the country inside making the authority to take not pro Armenian decisions. Here
is the reason that the "National Unity" still abstains to join to the
proclamation of "Republic". – People were rather decisive in the
meeting of the "Republic" party, they even said that they were ready
to realize the revolution alone. – Let record another reality, I understood
from your words that people are ready to go to the changeover of political powers
at any price. This proves that people are ready to go to extreme activities. As
regards other p arties of the "Justice" group their position is understandable
for me and also acceptable because it is obvious that the international community
assists this non-legitimate authority seeking for it own interests. And if the
opposition ignores the requests of those constructions about assisting not only
in discussion of Constitutional reforms but also in adopting it. If we didn’t
do in that way we’ll allow our opponents to say that we ignore the PACE. This
situation is a crisis not only for the opposition, "Justice" group but
it is a crisis for Armenian State System because the current authorities aren’t
able to reply to the existed challenges.Margaret Yesayan
