Though few people participated in the meeting, the speeches were more interesting.
In comparison with the former two meetings, the recurrent meeting of “Alternative” public initiative, which took place yesterday wasn’t crowded. But the founders of “Alternative” and speakers of yesterday meeting weren’t disappointed by that fact. Nikol Pashinyan, the editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Jamanak” newspaper, said: “We have held a meeting today for those people who don’t agree with the policy which is carried out in our country and don’t express their disagreement sitting on the arm-chair at their homes. We’ll stand here till all disagreed people gather here. We’ll stay here, till the people form its authority”. For the sake of justice we must say that yesterday meeting was more interesting with its raise questions: NK conflict, dual citizenship, discriminating policy of TV Companies which are controlled by the authority towards the opposition etc.
In Vahagn Khachatryan’s opinion, the authorities try to assure the population that the voters have nothing to do in the forthcoming elections, because the ruling clique has already come to the agreement and allotted parliamentary seats among authority and some “opposition” parties.
“Maybe they have come to the agreement with each other but our people haven’t”. V. Khachatryan is sure that “ the members and adherents of authority parties are fewer than they are produced”. “Robert Kocharyan and Serge Sargsyan sponsor them. They are ready for everything to be reproduced because they don’t have any other way. They know what crimes and frauds they have committed. Not only we, but also the whole world knows about it,”- V. Khachatryan declared and alluded the latest report of the U.S. Department of State about Armenia. He also alluded the “occupied territory” wording about Karabakh made by the U.S. Department of State, which is OSCE MG co-chairing country in the settlement of NK conflict. “Do you want to settle the NK conflict in this way, why did you come to power? The conflict was settled in this way in Soviet years”. Continuing the theme, Nikol Pashinyan said, “ people fussed when the international community was saying 8 years ago that 7 regions surrounded Karabakh were occupied. Today they say that Karabakh is occupied, it doesn’t fuss, because those people, the authorities, have managed to inspire indifference in us. We must be able to overpass it”.
The representatives of “Republic” party were also present in the meeting. Suren Surenyants, the member of that party’s city council, reminding the end of “Saroyan brothers” film, compared Robert Kocharyan and Serge Sargsyan in his speech: “When the ARF government was fleeing from the country, there were two places in the coach. The rest remained. It was in 1920. Unfortunately, our nowadays authority also has a psychology of emigrant. Two of them will flee, leaving their servants without any support. We must do our best to reach the culmination”.
