NO CIVIL PRISONERS IN THE RA

June 25,2007 00:00

\"\"NA chairman Tigran Torosyan thinks.

“I think we should be careful. Fortunately there is no civil prisoner in Armenia . The rest of it is secondary for me”, – NA chairman Tigran Torosyan answered the question how he would reply to Raffi Hovanisyan’s letter where it is called to set Jirayr Seifilyan, Vardan Malkhasyan and Alexander Arzumanyan free. Raffi Hovanisyan considers theses three persons civil prisoners in his letter. Just for that reason Tigran Torosyan calls for caution, because in his opinion, there is no civil prisoner in Armenia : “The letter, where it is spoken about civil prisoners, predicts the answer. I think that those persons, who we speak about, aren’t civil prisoners. The word civil prisoner isn’t formed by anyone’s will. There are certain formulations, according to which it is decided whether this person is a civil prisoner or not. The rest is manipulation. As for Alexander Arzumanyan, I think that everything will be clear after the end of investigation. Nobody has any right to give any remark. Because you shouldn’t give groundless remarks”.

The journalists have reminded him that when several RPA members had been jailed in the Soviet Period, they also haven’t been considered civil prisoners. Tigran Torosyan opposed toe that observation that Soviet Union doesn’t exist in this region any more”. He also added that he would reply to the letter that day.

The NA Chairman also spoke about “Gold” state car numbers that belongs to the NA, are attached on the cars which have no connection with the parliament. Mr. Torosyan told: I hope the state numbers will be returned to the parliaments sooner. There is no difficulty, simply each work hast its time. It is impossible to mixx everything. That question will be solved immediately». Mr. Torosyan also added that everything should be put in order in the National Assembly.

P.S. As the Armenian new delegation hasn\’t been formed yet, the memebers of former PACE Armenian delegation will leave for Strasbourg: RPA member Hermine Naghdalyan and ARF member Armen Roustamyan. Artashes Geghamyan, Stepan Demirchyan and Gurgen Arsenyan haven\’t been invited. Tigran Torosyan won\’t leve for Strasbourg, too.
