BIASSED COVERAGE REACHES STRASBOURG

CE Secretary General Terry Davis told the correspondent of “Azatutiun” b/s  in New York about his meeting with PM Serge Sargsyan held in Strasbourg last week. According to it, they have discussed the actions of TV Companies, “Confirmations that Serge Sargsyan is mentioned positively and the oppositionists are mentioned negatively. Certainly, I agreed that the Prime Minister will be covered more, than those who aren’t a prime minister. But I was explaining to the Prime Minister that the point is not the quantity of mentioning  but the convincing analyze according to which the coverage are profitable for Serge Sargsyan. It is wrong, it is biased, and it is what is not right in the democracy.” He also said: “I said very clearly that I worry about the situation in CE member Armenia. The current situation of the Armenian mass media doesn’t correspond to the CE standards”.
