Today Eduard Topchyan, the art director and chief conductor of the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra, and artist Sukias Torosyan met with journalists in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.

They informed that on December 21 and 25 the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra would play Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. In the meantime, the Philharmonic Orchestra will play famous British composer G. Holst’s “Planets” suite on December 16.

In this regard E. Topchyan told Aravot.am, “Andranik Sukiasyan’s computer graphics will make the performance special, transferring listener to the seven planets represented in the suite. It is beyond any doubt that Hover Chamber Choir led by Sona Hovhannisyan plays special role in this ‘cosmic’ music.”

This concert is directed by Sukias Torosyan again. 8 out of 9 operas staged in the past by the initiative and with participation of the Philharmonic Orchestra were directed by S. Torosyan.

We inquired from Sukias Torosyan about his career abroad. “I get a lot of invitations, the last one was in 2010 – the Bulgarian Minister of Culture of Turkish origin proposed staging Puccini’s ‘Madam Butterfly’, which I refused for an obvious reason”, answered Mr. Torosyan.
