Galust Sahakyan, Putin Club and Sarkozy from Gyumri (video)

January 26,2012 18:01

“The whole nation is Monte Melkonyan Club…” responded Galust Sahakyan, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) deputy chairman, during a conversation with Aravot.am, when we asked what he thought about Putin Club intended to be opened on February 2 and whether he didn’t think that they’d better open Monte Melkonyan Club instead of that. “I don’t think that it harms anything and there is any political position or innermost feeling involved in that. I see threats in thousands of organizations that are financed from without and as for those clubs, I haven’t come across such analyses yet and I haven’t gone deep into that, I just know that some centers are opened”, said G. Sahakyan.

Human rights advocate Avetik Ishkhanyan, unlike Galust Sahakyan, cannot help but use rude language and get nervous, when he hears that Putin Club will be opened in Armenia or someone in Gyumri decided to christen his kid Sarkozy, “I am starting to doubt our national dignity, when naming a kid Sarkozy is represented on TV as good news, it is a humiliation of dignity already. The establishment of Putin Club is also in that context. This is a joke, flattery and humiliation of the national dignity, I have a bad feeling, when I hear of Putin Club.”

Let us remind that the idea of establishing Putin Club “was endorsed by dozens of social figures and NGOs, as well as leaders of three political forces, Aram Sargsyan, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia, Hayk Babukhanyan, the leader of the Constitutional Rights Union, and Harutyun Arakelyan, the leader of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (ADLP)”, as the message of the CIS Youth Union reads. Let us mention that later on Aram Sargsyan strongly denied the news that he had endorsed the idea of establishing Putin Club and Harutyun Arakelyan is not registered as the leader of ADLP in the Ministry of Justice.
