The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) threat each other with “balloons”

January 30,2012 15:55

Edward Sharmazanov, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and RPA press secretary, talking about the position of PAP in regard to switching to 100% proportional representation, told 168 Zham, “This is a political trick and we see clear difference between words and deeds here.”

Naira Zohrabyan, a National Assembly PAP MP, stated in response, “I would advise avoiding judgments about the difference between words and deeds. Otherwise, there are such classic examples of difference between words and deeds, absolute carelessness and moreover, harmfulness of activities that we can enumerate them one by one, if necessary.” Naira Zohrabyan also urged, “And third, our call for political forces to hold any discussions in exceptionally proper and civilized manner remains. We are ready to give a whole collection of differences between words and deeds of those who persistently don’t understand that call. I’m just afraid that the collection will be multivolume.”

Gagik Melikyan, the secretary of RPA, said to Aravot in this regard, “Mrs. MP has started to repeat and give advice, since she had nothing to say and people who give advice need it more. Instead of giving a ‘multivolume book,’ Mrs. Zohrabyan had better realize that there will always be a needle in RPA that can always pop even the biggest political balloon.”

PAP was quick to respond to this too. Press secretary of the PAP leader Khachik Galstyan responded to Gagik Melikyan, “We give a piece of friendly advice to those who pop political balloons not to become balloons filled with air, which are quick to rise in the air, as a rule.”
