February 02,2012 17:05

The court session regarding the case of Armenian National Congress (ANC) activists Tigran Arakelyan, Sargis Gevorgyan, Davit Kiramijyan and Artak Karapetyan continued at the trial court of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts today.

The court session began with Judge Gagik Poghosyan’s decision to apply to the Bar of the Republic of Armenia to start a disciplinary action against Tigran Arakelyan’s counselor Vahe Grigoryan, a member of the Bar of the Republic of Armenia.

The judge also said that the sanction imposed on Tigran Arakelyan, who had been dismissed from the court room at the previous session, continued “in terms of time” by the court decision. Counselor Vahe Grigoryan tried to clarify, “Regardless of what decision you have made, the defense is inclined to work efficiently. As for the decision made in terms of time, it doesn’t make public what time the court is talking about. The court cannot impose indefinite time sanction.”

Counselor Stepan Voskanyan thought necessary that the session was held with the participation of Tigran Arakelyan. Prosecutor Hakob Martirosyan noted, “Sanction should not be an end in itself.” The judge said that he was talking about the 3.5-hour sanction.

Counselor Vahe Grigoryan filed a motion to postpone the court session and said that he had a motion of refusal to accept the case and he needed to consult with his defendant. A 15-minute break was announced and Vahe Grigoryan visited his defendant. He claimed again his motion of postponing the court session for two days and filed a motion requesting that they were provided records before the next session. The court sustained the motion.

Let us observe that former Ministry of Foreign Affairs press secretary Vladimir Karapetyan from among the ANC higher-ups watched the court session.

The court session regarding the case launched against the ANC activists will continue on February 7.
