Judges Who Have Made Wrong Decisions Will Be Fired

February 17,2012 17:19

Ara Nranyan, an Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) MP, meeting with a set of European Union organizations, proposed to the representatives of the European Court of Human Rights to punish our corrupted judges, the MP told about this during a meeting with journalists today. According to him, “I explained the problem that our courts often make decision due to political motivation and corruption. The European Court founds those decisions invalid and demands compensating those people. As a result, it turns out that our state budget loses considerable amount of money, because some people made some decisions or had some political agenda. We ask whether this system isn’t in our establishment’s interest, which pays for corrupted judges, instead of making budget outlays to implement social, educational and cultural projects.”

According to Ara Nranyan, the question he raised surprised representatives of the European Court to some extent – they even asked for an option of solving the problem. MP says, “I suggested that the most serious punishment for such judges would be dismissal from the system for some time. If there are people who make decisions politically motivated, if there are people whose wrong decisions have a negative impact on our budget, those people should be deprived of the possibility to carry out their professional activities for 3-4 years, rather than be fined €30-40 thousand, which is a punishment for the society, because the state pays for judicial mistakes.” The MP assured that his proposal had been welcomed even by his colleagues from abroad.
