Aram Manukyan Doesn’t Respond to the “Nightingales of the National Assembly” (Video)

July 02,2012 18:00

During a conversation with Aram Manukyan, the secretary of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary group, www.aravot.am asked him to comment on Khosrov Harutyunyan’s observation that the ANC pleased the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) in order to use its capital, the electorate. In regard to this, A. Manukyan said, “There are three people in the parliament, three nightingales, to whom I don’t respond. One of them is Khosrov Harutyunyan, the other two are Artashes Geghamyan and Hayk Babukhanyan.”

In response to our observation that not only K. Harutyunyan was under such impression, the ANC parliamentary group secretary said the following, “One should read Levon Ter-

Petrossian’s speech carefully and in detail and realize that it is just an adequate political speech fitting with the Armenian situation. The Armenian political stage works in this very direction. Every force, political unit that will act like we do, will vote against this government, this semi-elected, semi-criminal government, we will cooperate with it in that area and at that stage. The PAP, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and the Heritage Party have taken that position these days. We will try to expand, enlarge this force, since only in that case can we sober up this government, make them act fairly so that they take into account the people’s opinion, which doesn’t link one political force to another at all.” As for using political force, A. Manukyan stated, “It is not about using, it is about concurrence of interests. Politics is the art of the possible. The more people vote like you, the more successful you are. And the golden rule of diplomacy is that the more friends you have the more powerful you are and the more enemies you have the weaker you are. The political force that has many supporters is a smart political force.”
