The Armenian Labor Socialist Party (ALSP) Doesn’t Support Hello Yerevan

April 29,2013 10:38

The Armenian Labor Socialist Party, which supported Raffi Hovhannisyan, the Heritage Party leader, at the presidential election, doesn’t have a representative on the Hello Yerevan list for the Yerevan city council election. By the way, the ALSP doesn’t support Hello Yerevan at the city council election. Movses Shahverdyan, the leader of the party, told about that during a conversation with www.aravot.am. “We avoid joining coalitions that have a different ideology,” Mr. Shahverdyan explained, adding that it was not ruled out that if it was necessary, they might direct their supporters to vote for a force with the same ideology. “If we notice that there is a force that really struggles and wants to secure the votes it has gotten and needs our support, we will show that support,” Movses Shahverdyan said. In

response to a question whether any of the forces participating in the city council election satisfied their criteria, he said: “The opposition forces participating in the city council election are all quite capable, and we don’t wish to differentiate between them. It is just that we wish all opposition forces good luck in this election. And our supporting or not supporting can only be based on a specific agreement; we don’t wish to make abstract statements.” Our interlocutor is not under the delusion that the upcoming city council election will substantially differ from the other elections; all the mechanisms of electoral fraud will be employed again.
