Armen Martirosyan agrees with Serzh Sargsyan

November 30,2013 16:39

“I agree with his words that these relations should be more meaningful. Because, the relationships that were built in the meantime were definitely meaningless, and the only “notion” of it was the two national elections and the Yerevan Council elections be legitimately recognized by Europeans, and despite of enormous draws of frauds, the EU partners also legalized” – said the Vice-President of the “Heritage” party, Armen Martirosyan, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech in the Eastern Partnership summit, in Vilnius. The president, in particular, said, “The expectations from this Vilnius summit are high. We view this summit as an important milestone to develop our relationships with the EU more meaningfully and on realistic basis. We are reading the final document of the summit in this very context, and the Armenia- European Union declaration to be signed today.” Armen Martirosyan finds that it is high time to transfer from the policy of “legitimizing frauds” to a policy of real relations, because these relationships are in no need for Armenia, or the Armenian people. “Our European partners must also be realistic, whom we have repeatedly warned that this is the only desire of the authorities, and building up they relations about Armenia only with the authorities, they do a blatant mistake. Realistic approaches, if they were really by the European partners, would not currently appear in the situation that after three and a half years of negotiations, the country’s political and economic course is radically changed in one day, during one meeting,” said Armen Martirosyan. In contrary to the view expressed by our interlocutor, Serzh Sargsyan said in his Vilnius speech, “The Eastern partnership has enabled a new impetus to our efforts directed to modernization of our state and the society based on the principles of democracy, human rights, and supremacy of the rights. It stimulated our extensive reform agenda. As a measurable result, I would just note the three major election processes in Armenia during the last one and a half years, which set a new benchmark in this area, essentially strengthening Armenia’s electoral system.” On this occasion, Armen Martirosyan noted, “Yes, fewer becomes the population in Armenia, the poverty is increasing, more the entire attention of Armenians is focused on our authorities, they are imbued with love towards the authorities, and more votes were drawn for those authorities. This has no connection with reality; this is one of regular forgeries. The authorities falsify not only the elections, their work, but also their words.” With regard to the joint statement, which was signed in Vilnius with the Armenian side, which specifically states that the parties “reaffirm their commitment to further develop and strengthen comprehensive cooperation in all areas of mutual interest under the Eastern Partnership,” our interlocutor considers declarative. The expression “in all areas of mutual interest” is too vague. If there is no specificity of what the matter is about, each process can be presented as a general interest, so as absolutely no interest,” said our interlocutor, reminding that initially he was of the opinion that nothing contextual will take place in Vilnius. “I am also constantly receiving information from Vilnius through individual contacts and I am sorry that Armenia over there is in, the so-called, the status of an orphan state, I apologize for such expression. Armenia is not even mentioned. Armenia, which in the three and a half years, according to the Europeans, was even in much more advantageous position than Georgia, is not even mentioned, today. Whereas, Azerbaijan has repeatedly mentioned. Even if a bad thing is not said about the state, they completely forget it, it means that the state does not generally present an interest with the players of the international arena,” said our interlocutor, adding, “I am sorry that to maintain their power and temporary wealth, the authorities managed to neutralize Armenia’s European democratic and economically developed prospect, to push Armenia from external political developments, making it a marginal member”.
