December 26,2013 18:08

“After Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, the expected privileges would be more than losses,” opines Vazgen Safaryan, Head of the Union of Native Producers of Armenia, Chairman of the Public Board for Finance and Economic Affairs. To the question of what benefits the matter is about, if we consider the fact that a 1.4 % growth has been registered in Russia, which is not a very good indicator, Mr. Safaryan replied, “The fact that Russia’s economy is growing by 1.4 per cent, it is close to the European average, and this should be considered positive. And, a growth of 1.4 % for Russia’s economy is a very good rate. They have a positive trade balance, which is in the range of 190-200 billion dollars. Such pace in the development of Russia’s economy is totally sufficient for the development of Armenia’s economy.” Aravot.am asked Andranik Tevanyan, Head Scientific Research Institute “Political Economy”, whether it was advantageous for Armenia to join a union with a priority of the state registering such growth in the economy, with the perspective of registering an economic growth. Mr. Tevanyan replied, “The main keys to the development of Armenia’s economy are in Yerevan. Even given that these problems may affect Armenia, taking into account for the immigrants and transvestites, Armenia’s economic problems are more inside us. As a result of the policy led by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Armenia had appeared in this situation.” Mr. Tevanyan also shares the opinion, he does not support the Customs Union accession, nor the EU Association Agreement. He believes that “it is not nice that Russia’s economic growth rates are low, and we directly feel its impact.” However, he also emphasizes, “The problems are in Yerevan, and not in Moscow.”
