Political analyst:”Turkey will be forced to make concessions.”

April 18,2015 13:48

According to political analyst Stepan Safaryan the fact that European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide is a warning to Turkey: “It was a very authoritative document, the purpose of which was to make Turkey to understand something. Perhaps the task of opening the border as well, because Turkey`s policy not only does not exhaust problem-solving, but also makes it more complicated. The West is not eager to see how Turkey takes control over the recognition of Armenian Genocide. Of course, it is noticed that Turkey is considered to be a good political partner for Russian policy than to   Western policy. Therefore, Turkey`s slap indicates that it, as the minimum, should open borders with Armenia “, – said Stepan Safaryan to Aravot.am.

According to him, the European Community did a lot more than Armenia’s strategic partner Russia.

-“Russia quietly sent the second delegation under the leadership of Narishkin to Istanbul, to participate in Gallipoli events. The Europe tells Turkey that they clearly understand the game and are not going to help them to legitimize their policy.”

Mr. Safaryan also considers European Parliament’s resolution a chain reaction, which was preceded by the EPP,  by the European parliament condemn, the Vatican statement, the Pope’s organized Mass.

-“I think Turkey will be forced to make concessions. Escalation, which is tension of relations, we have between the international community and Turkey. It is natural that Turkey clenches its teeth, because, anyway, the reason is the Armenian question, but I do not think that the medium-term trends will be preserved, because Turkey has no resources to go against the world. ”
