May 05,2015 12:47

“I have not yet seen in America that the participation of the population in the elections gets to 70 percent,” said the member of the US and Mexico delegation, member of  Board of Supervisors of Fresno County, State of California, Andreas Borges, during the press conference with the journalists on May 4. According to him, the elections held in Artsakh went off fair and transparent and were in compliance with the international norms. He expressed hope that in the United States they can show a little better indicator.

Referring to the fact that the US has announced that it would not recognize the election results, Andreas Borges reminded those present that the US is a federal state, and some of its states have recognized Artsakh. “This case does not happen at once but gradually. I think you can already notice this gradual recognition. During your 6th parliamentary elections, we observed that the elections are in compliance with the democratic standards.” He is not surprised that the border situation during the elections is tense. He opines that the border tension will be further continued, when again elections or other events will be held in Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan has stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh elections are a violation of the Azerbaijani laws.

To the question of how he will interpret this statement and whether they are not afraid to appear in Azerbaijan’s black list, the delegation member Karin McDonald said, “I’m already in Azerbaijan’s black list. This is my second visit to Karabakh. We are professional researchers. I do not know why Azerbaijan thinks that it can tell us how to work. This is what we do for living, we are impartial professionals who are doing their job.” Watch the video for the details.
