The next day after the Nagorno-Karabakh Parliamentary Elections, on May 4, the Russian Federation observation delegation met with the journalists. Head of the RF Observation Group, depute of the State Duma “Yabloko” faction, Viktor Sheinis, said that the parliamentary elections were held in high level and were in compliance with the international norms. “The observers had meetings at the election headquarters of the parties. It should be noted that during these meetings, no essential complaints and reprimands were heard. The observers have also met with Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament to discuss the issues of concern.”

He added that a day before the elections, the day of silence, the observation group has not noticed any violations. On the Election Day, the observation group has visited 52 polling stations. “Overall, the elections went off in the atmosphere of competition, in compliance with democratic elections and a high turnout to the elections is recorded. However, a number of deficiencies were recorded during the process, for example, there were large crowds gathered, which complicated the process of coordination, and the poor lighting. Despite these drawbacks, the observers are convinced that the elections went off fair and transparent,” said Victor Sheinis.
