Politicization is correct

February 02,2016 12:30

The government representatives often act with the call of “non-politicization” of this-or-that problem. It reaches the point that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan, urged not to politicize the legislative initiatives. But we must keep in mind that the National Assembly is a body, where politicians are gathered (must be gathered), and every uttered word there has political overtone. In other words, in all more or less developed countries in the world, the parliamentarians speak, criticize, attack, defend and offer only for one purpose to prove that their political force can lead the citizens of the country towards happiness and well-being.

Even if, for example, a debate is going on how the football team of the country is playing, anyway, the opposition must try to prove that this team will win the world champion title only under their ruling. In itself, the football-players physical, technical and tactical training, certainly, is not a political issue but in the parliament, all of this can be discussed only in the light of political. The parliamentarians should not be interested in how to do to make the football-players play better, they are interested in only one thing – for their constituents to see how they care about the team.

It is so in the whole world and there is nothing bad in it. Any question can be discussed in professional, ethical-psychological and philosophical viewpoints. The Parliament is for debates purely from political viewpoints. It’s not only good but also useful. The politics must be open and possibly a wider channel, thru which any issue should pass. If not, then greater is the risk that the issues will be resolved in other places and thru other methods.

“Other place” is the closed chambers of the palaces. Such a mechanism operates in dictatorship countries where the parliament is truly not politicized because it is void of real opposition. “Other methods” is the terrorism or uncontrollable and natural riots. I think there is no sane person in Armenia who would like to see our state go by this way.

Thus, the more parliamentarians politicize an issue, the more will benefit the state.
