Recently, invited to the press conference, coordinator of Razm.info specialized website Karen Vrtanesyan and Turkologist and expert in Azerbaijani studies, Taron Hovhannisyan, were saying how strangely the Azeris organize the funerals of the soldiers. As Karen Vrtanesyan said, it looks like a sports event rather than a burial of a serviceman. There were quite intensive discussions on the Facebook in this regard, some were skeptical that funeral is a funeral, what’s the difference, why the enemy’s funeral are presented in this way.

Taron Hovhannisyan rendered a video to Aravot.am showing the funeral of an Azeri Captain Savalanov Nəcməddin Akif oğlu wounded in combat actions on April 2. He died on May 8 at the main hospital in Baku. During the funerals, a Defense Ministry special specialist Abdullah Qurbani runs the entire “event” and passes the microphone at times to the funeral participants weeping relatives and gives a medal with applauses, solemnly attaching it to the jacket of the deceased child and all of this is done at the coffin of his father (photo)

The bizarre in this funeral is not so much the fact that the Azerbaijanis have brought the minor, small children to the funeral of their father and make them a participant to the whole tragedy, but the fact that Qurbani passes the microphone to the victim’s little girl to recite a patriotic poems at her father’s coffin. And the girl begins reciting the poem in tears and with the Azerbaijani flag over her shoulders, with the words that the country is in danger and calls us, the enemy wants to take our land away, those who are willing to do so will get a worthy counterattack…
