On September 23, the Cezayir complex in Istanbul will host the ceremony of awarding an Istanbul-based Armenian, talented intellectual, philologist, writer and publicist Sevan Nshanyan’s family a medal of “William Saroyan” of the RA Ministry of Diaspora. The preparatory works are underway. More than 150 prominent political and public figures, including İsmail Beşikçi, Ufuk Uras, ethnic Armenian lawmaker Garo Paylan, Selina Doğan and others are invited. The video message of detained Sevan Nshanyan’s mother, Sona Nshanyan, will be displayed during the event, in which she mentions lawmaker and Chairman of “Return” Foundation, Aragats Akhoyan’s name.
The award that is awarded for the activities supporting the expansion of Armenian culture in the Diaspora, for the significant achievements in this industry, for the development of Armenia-Diaspora partnership on creative activities, for having a great contribution in strengthening the mid-community ties between Armenia and the Diaspora, will be presented by the RA NA lawmaker who has a great contribution to the establishment of a dialogue between Armenian-Turkish civil society.
