Prime Minister Karapetyan Attends CIS Council of Heads of Government Meeting: Belarus President Receives Heads of Delegations

The heads of those delegations in attendance of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and CIS Heads of Government Council meetings were received by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

President Lukashenko said that the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union are a good platform to promote dialogue and integration between Member States. The meeting focused on several issues on CIS and EEU agendas.

During his visit to the Republic of Belarus, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan participated in narrow-format and enlarged meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.

The CIS Heads of Government Council discussed and approved a number of draft documents. In particular, the Council approved the CIS bodies’ draft unified budget for 2017 and the 2015 unified budget performance, and signed a number of documents. At the same time, the Council decided to hold the next meeting of the Council in the Russian Federation.

After the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and CIS Heads of Government Council meetings Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan had a short briefing with media representatives. Noting that the negotiations and discussions were very interesting, The Prime Minister of Armenia said these platforms are suitable for the post-Soviet countries to discuss various issues in terms of both the common market and national interests.

“We had a heated and substantive discussion at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council’s meeting over the Customs Code. As there were unresolved issues, we agreed to meet again in Moscow on November 15,” Karen Karapetyan said.
