The EU wants to make the year 2017 a year of the fight against corruption in Armenia. Announced the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Piotr Switalski, today. “Stop the flow of corruption” information campaign kicked off. Animated films, videos, and campaign materials will be displayed in the framework of the campaign. They will show what a bad thing is corruption. “It must be embedded in people’s consciousness since early age,” says the ambassador. President of Armenian Bar Association, Karen Zadoyan, opines that it is necessary to simplify the various procedures and apply them consistently in order to overcome administrative corruption. He says that as a result of years-long efforts of civil society, today the government has the political will to minimize the administrative corruption in Armenia. The results will be visible within 1.5-2 years, and it will appear in the international organization’s chart next year.
Recall that Armenia has lost its position in the “Transparency International” charts. Karen Zadoyan considers the political corruption is a threat to national security for our country. He thinks that supported by the EU, it was possible to introduce a breakthrough in this matter, “The war in April showed that the corruption obtains a blood look. After this, the political society-government contacts became more materialistic. We must draw a white line. The President of our country once said on an occasion that the big fish must be caught from the head. Criminalization of illicit enrichment will enable this opportunity.
