‘Azerbaijan sends its natives to Karabakh frontline: to “meat grinder:”’ Shahin Mirzoev

“Yes, in Azerbaijan, Talish people, so to speak, are forcibly sent to the Karabakh frontline: to meat grinder,” said Shahin Mirzoev, a Talish journalist, recently escaping Azerbaijan and seeking shelter in Armenia, at the international forum “Breaking the Siege of Stepanakert: 25 years later” in the interview with journalists.

He pointed out that during the April hostilities as reported by the expertise field of Armenia, Talish residents, also other natives: Tatars, Lezgi and Udis, made the significant number of Azerbaijani army casualties.  According to Mirzoev, this shows the kind of politics which Azerbaijan is having towards its natives.  Shahin Mirzoev informed that the by Azerbaijan’s discriminatory approach, natives are sent as servicemen to the border military units, incidentally, the natives make the 70-80 percent of Azerbaijani border keepers.
