April 09,2017 05:29

“Bribes have become a UFO, a ghost, everyone speaks of it but no one sees, there is no proof”, answered former MP Aragats Akhoyan to the question whether vote-buying or administrative recourses won. According to him, “all this was uncontrollable so much that we did not have a clue on what happened and how.”

Pursuant to Mr. Akhoyan’s opinion, the campaigns were not based on certain individuals, he stated that for instance – “Yelq” received votes by correct PR and having no administrative resource. He opined that our people are not yet politically mature. To the question that the same “Tsarukyan” alliance, which stated that the parliament should be cleared from people with nicknames, included suchlike people, Mr. Akoyan answered: “A boy who goes to propose to someone should look at him in the mirror for the last time. I advice everyone entering the parliament to work on themselves, I have worked on myself a lot and people who know me will state that I have made a progress.” Another participant of the press conference Aaron Adibekyan told that he knew people who had taken money from two parties but given their vote to the third one. According to him the best thing in these elections was that everything was plain in the polling stations. He conditioned the majority’s voting in favor of RPA by social conditions saying that a lot of people did not want changes forasmuch as they thought it could have been worse: “The expectations of the half of the voters were connected with social issues and this is why they chose a strong party which was able to solve them.” Commenting on the first president Levon Ter-Petrosian’s announcement implying that their alliance did not pass inasmuch as the people are poor and politically immature Aaron Adibekyan noted that they did not pass because huge and strong factories were destroyed during his years of rule, people have stayed jobless, wrong privatization has been implemented which has given a ground not to give the preference to this very political force: “If people were politically ignorant then they should have been educated throughout these years.” Addressing vote-buying Mr. Adibekyan told that the factor of ranked candidates has had more significance that was able to solve problems at the place. Aaron Adibekyan made a prediction on the forthcoming elections of the Council of Elders saying that if the elections take place then the half of the Elders will be RPA, “Tsarukyan” alliance will pass but with fewer votes as PAP has fewer supporters in Yerevan. To the question, whether they agree that this parliament will be impersonal taking into account that figures unknown to the society have emerged in the lists as well, Mr. Adibekyan replied – yes, to some extent. According to him a part of our political figures has a star fever and has lost the capability to learn at the age of 18.
