A preliminary investigation of the criminal case launched with regard to the case of smuggling of Azerbaijani apples to Armenia in accordance with Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (evasion from taxes) has been sent to the Special Investigation Service.
As the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia reported It revealed that the persons engaged in illicit entrepreneurial activity who had been periodically crossing the border to carry out trade, had imported agricultural products in an obviously trade quantity to Armenia via offering bribe to some employees of SRC’s Pre-clearance Control Department at Bagratashen Customs Checkpoint in order to avoid customs clearance. A criminal case has been initiated over abuses made by SRC employees for facts of taking bribes. Criminal cases were opened also against a number of civilians over carrying out illicit entrepreneurial activity.
the General Prosecutor’s Office has tasked the Special Investigation Service of Armenia to take all available measures to reveal all the circumstances of the case of smuggling into the territory of Armenia.
