The famous jazz musician, double bassist, composer, singer Avishai Cohen will perform his first concert in Armenia with his trio, in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on May 31. Aravot.am was informed about this from the office of the Prime Production, one of the concert organizers. Besides Avishai Cohen, Itamar Doari (drums), and Omri Mor (piano) will also perform in the trio. Earlier Avishai Cohen has collaborated with pianist Danilo Pérez, Grammy winner Chick Corea, and has had his part in the latter’s projects.
“Not all musicians are improvisators, and I often turn to improvisations, that is why I am in jazz”, said the musician during one of his interviews. He also stressed that “In order to reach the heights of the music industry, you have to be a little bit crazy, lunatic, unpredictable. While you do not need these qualities in your life at all, as you merely try to satisfy your natural instincts, to be a good person, reasonable and balanced person as much as possible. Generally, I try to enjoy everything, my existence, music, even a cup of coffee”.
The realization of the Yerevan concert is supported by the Consulate of Israel to Armenia and the Armenian Association of Jazz among many others.
