The sixth Armenian Church Representative Assembly was convened in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin presided by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, where diocese leaders of the Armenian Church and members of the Supreme Spiritual Council took part in.

His Holiness also touched upon the Constantinople patriarch elections in his speech. “We express our support to Constantinople Armenian patriarchal vicar general of His Eminence Archbishop Karekin Bekchyan, and encourage him to implement the routine work of the Patriarchate and to organize the elections of the Patriarch”.

Soon, the process of the organization of the elections will start. Fr. Archbishop Karekin Bekchyan is among the candidates.

The appointed General Vicar of the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, the current leader of the Armenian Diocese of Germany, considered the election process as belated, “However, the past is not the most important, but the future. I think in cooperation with our spiritual brotherhood in Constantinople we will take harmonic actions, and the upcoming elections will be held in a friendly atmosphere”.
