‘This is the case when army is to respond’: Hayk Khanumyan

June 20,2017 14:40

The Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Artsakh, the President of “National Renaissance” party Hayk Khanumyan states that the work done in the recent months allows to nullify the adversary’s diversionary activity but does not reduce the threat of a large-scale war: “Our strategy should proceed from the possibility of large-scale  war to commence even today. If we do not take this strategy as the basis, we significantly weaken ourselves. Saying being ready for a large-scale war I not only refer to the state of the troops and weaponry but also the civil protection, the awareness of the population, the background organization.”

Asked what does “targeted and not equal” response constitute, Mr. Khanumyan replied that he is not inclined to criticize the army for failures and to praise for success much. Instead, he is personally inclined towards the strategy of giving a tough response to the enemy. According to the MP, this is the case when it is favorable to wait for the army’s operations.

To our next question whether these operations conducted by Azerbaijan do not witness that the targeted announcement of the Co-Chairs has not served to the point, Mr. Khanumyan replied: “Azerbaijan does not look at his or her announcement, it does what it does, in this case, it continues to conduct an erosive war after not succeeding during the April escalation. We are the only constraint against Azerbaijan, not a sole announcement or organization is able to play that role. Consequently, we should think of finding equal response to the challenges.”

Referring to the answer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Khanumyan told: “The announcement cannot be the equal response to the military operation or incident. This is the case when the army is to give a response.”
