The
standpoints of experts and society are quite different on issues of relations
with CoE, Russia and Turkey. The Armenian Center of Strategic and National
Researches tried to get answers of some actual issues of RA political agenda at
the end of the year. The results of that polling were introduced yesterday. The
opinions of 100 experts and the 2002 representatives of the society were diametrically
different. If the 76% of experts was dissatisfied with the process of RA obligations
towards CoE then only the 34% of society thinks that the results weren’t satisfied,
and the 24% are satisfied with the activities. The 40% of experts consider the
CoE hasn’t laid down unacceptable conditions towards the RA. Only the 0,2% of
society share this standpoint. The 31,6% considers unacceptable the permission
of religious minorities’ activities and the 26,8 % considers unacceptable the
demand of respect the rights of sexual minorities. The most interesting detection
among these polls is the different attitudes of the experts and society towards
the RF. For example the question was formulated in the following way: " In
what cases mustn’t the RA become the member of EU?" Surprisingly the 27,5
% of our society think we must decline from the membership in case of Russian
negative attitudes. But the 2% of experts shared this standpoint. The attitudes
of society and experts towards Turkey were also interesting. To the question "Are
you agree with the membership of Turkey to EU?" the 61% of experts answered
"yes" and the 22% "no". But only the 28,7 % of society answered
negatively when the 52% were against it. More than the part of experts thinks
that Turkey will become more predictable and democratic country. The society doesn’t
share this standpoint which considers Turkey will become more powerful and carry
out more aggressive policy towards the RA /32,4%/ after becoming the member of
EU. Melanya BarseghianP.S.- The chief of administration
on issues of religion and national minorities at RA Government Hranoush Kharatian
produced an interesting observation during summarizing the results of this polling
yesterday. According to some analyses in case of nowadays level of emigration
and immigration and the birth rate the number of RA inhabitants will decrease
1/3 times especially the number of people who are 15-59 years old and the 37%
of inhabitants will consist of people who are in their 60 and more in 2050. Just
the opposite demographic picture will be expected in Turkey and Azerbaijan: the
increase of inhabitants’ number by 45%-47% at the expense of 15-59 years old people.
