The
Armenian flag appeared near the flags of CoE and Georgia on the building of the
Georgian Parliament yesterday. The NA speaker Arthur Baghdasarian
met Michael Sahakashvili and Nino Burjanadze in the first day of his official
visit to Georgia. The issues on Javakhq and railway transfers were the core of
these meetings. The President of Georgia began speaking with the Armenian delegation
about Javakhq: "I leave for the biggest village, Ninitsminda, where we begin
to build a new, big Armenian school which will be opened from September 1. And
in general we are engaged in the problems of Javakhq." M. Sahakashvili also
informed: "We are beginning a great project of social rehabilitation including
for those people who work in Russian military stations. That project will be realized
for all of them. We are not going to open there a new military unit but suggest
those who want to serve in the nearest military units of Georgian Army with high
salaries. And we’ll realize other project of social rehabilitation in the business
or other spheres for those who don’t want to serve in the army." The correspondent
of "Azg" newspaper directed a question to the chairman of the Georgian
parliament during the joint interview with Arthur Baghdasarian and Nino Burjanadze
that how many new working places they had formed in the last years for realizing
a separate program of rehabilitation. Answering to that question Nino Burjanadze
said that there is no skepticism in the question but admitted that they had nothing
to be proud of in this case. She also declared that the situation in Javakhq isn’t
worse than in any other region. The legislative bodies of Georgia and Armenia
interpreted during the interview the summons about self-government of Javakhq.
Nino Burjanadze stressed that they appreciated the official standpoint of Armenia
that it was the business of Georgian home police and they wouldn’t interfere.
And Arthur Baghdasarian stressed: "It is an important question for us for
our compatriots live in Georgia in normal conditions and without discrimination".Michael
Sahakashvili promised on the second problem: "We’ll do our best to prevent
any problem on cargo transportation in the Georgian territory."It is
worth to mention the contacts of the Armenian deputies with the permanent delegation
with relations of Armenia of the Georgian parliament. The core of conversation
was also the withdrawal of Russian military units from Javakhq and transportation
of cargoes. But there were other questions. One of the members of the delegation
interested: "How is it in Yerevan? Do you boycott again?" Then they
asked about David Shahnazarian what he is doing. Another question was about Hrant
Bagratian whether he has formed a political power. Take into consideration that
there are mostly deputies from the authority in the delegation and they had to
answer to all those questions the answers some of them they even didn’t know.
In the end we must mention that Nino Burjanadze also informed yesterday that
there was an agreement to form an inter-Parliamentary commission which would be
engaged in the issues of rising mutually beneficial collaboration and effectiveness.
And Arthur Baghdasarian considered important the effective activities of the Parliaments
of both countries in forming joint inter-Parliamentary Conference of South Caucasus.Anna
