The reporters
of PACE monitoring commission on Armenia Yerji Yaskernia and George Kolombie finished
the agenda of their visit yesterday. But before speaking on their yesterday
meetings let’s mention that the co-reporters met the chief of the Police Hayk
Harutiunian the day before. The deputy chief of the Police Hovhannes Varian also
took part in the meeting. According to the official information "issues that
the Police take on the sphere of defense of human rights and future prospects"
and also "for further improvement of the Police activities including issues
on retraining of the Police officials" were discussed. We can’t imagine what
a conversation it was.The information about yesterday meeting of Robert Kocharian
with Yerji Yaskernia and George Kolombie was also scanty. The press secretariat
of the President only informed that "the process of constitutional reforms
has only been discussed. It has also been spoken about regional problems, about
the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."Instead, the official information
about the Prime Minister Andranik Margarian’s meeting with the co-reporters is
rather minutely. The members of the council of the fight against Corruption under
the Prime Minister’s chairmanship took part in that meeting. According to that
official information Yaskernia congratulated Andranik Margarian on the 5th anniversary
ruling that post. Then the Prime Minister mentioned that "Armenia which has
chosen the way of integration into the European family" was consistent in
honoring commitments towards the CoE and "has taken essential steps in that
direction". By the request of the guests he produced the present social-economic
situation and prospects of development, spoke about the latest activities against
corruption. As regards the Constitutional reforms the Prime Minister assured that
taking into consideration the remarks of the Commission of Venice the project
of the coalition would be improved till the second reading " for corresponding
the produced demands". Andranik Margarian also expressed his standpoint about
authority-opposition dialogue, status of the Yerevan mayor, "Electoral code",
freedom of mass media and other issues. The agenda of Yaskernia and Kolombie
was over by these meetings. And at what conclusions the co-reporters arrived will
be found out later.Anna Israelian
