Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian says marking the situation of Armenian side in NK conflict.
In answer to President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko\’s expressed opinion that Karabakh must be the part of Azerbaijan, RA Foreign Minister said: «Relations with Ukraine are normal, trade extents grow but there are problems in political area. It seems Ukraine isn’t impartial on some problems. And that kind of declarations are inadmissible for us, we have expressed our standpoint on that occasion. We consider such declarations as political subjectivity which pursues special ends not taking into consideration the balance, we consider such things inadmissible.»
Foreign minister was asked why Armenia doesn\’t send a peacemaking unit to Lebanon when our compatriots who live there are constantly asking about it, while Turkey has already sent. He said that there has been some summons from the Armenian community of Lebanon: «There are a lot of other factors, we take the community’s summon into consideration and dialogue with the representatives of community. I’m sure a right decision will be made. Such problem mustn’t be an end itself, our units must serve some purposes, when the purpose is cleared our country will make its decision.”
Cochairmen are seriously discussing the problem of meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Vartan Oskanian said speaking about it that the meetings can’t be ends in themselves. «We are ready to meet at any time, but the atmosphere must be right coefficient for that meeting to give results. Azerbaijan wants to distract the attention from Minsk process, UN General Committee refused to put into agenda the proposal of frozen conflicts but yesterday General Assembly changed that decision and decided to involve it in the agenda. For that reason the situation will be diverted from the Minsk Group process. So the ministers’ meeting is questionable unless the UN position becomes clear. Azerbaijan makes any effort one more time to divert from the content of Minsk Group document, with the great part of which Azerbaijan agreed, including referendum, problem of self-determination etc, but perhaps it has changed his mind. So we must analyze the current situation and make decision after it”. Marking the position of Armenian side in NK conflict Mr. Oskanian said: “ I think, our results aren’t bad at this moment”.
