Especially to make conclusions from the NA parliamentarians’ made declarations.
“The process of declarations is a very bad game. Besides, people have adopted a formula, that who is wealthy, he is a thief, being wealthy is very bad. The state is wealthy when it has a lot of wealthy persons. And I want to be very rich. They try to describe by the declaration that the person is a thief and shows only the part of theft. It’s nonsense for me,”- RPA head of faction Galust Sahakian replied so, when we asked him to explain his declaration about estate and incomes of 2005. According to that declaration he doesn’t have a car and has had about 110 thousands drams of income besides his salary. We don’t think that being wealthy is a bad thing, the point is that why do our wealthy persons hide their property? “Haik” has published information from their declarations. According to it, the wealthy person Samvel Alexanian, whose establishment have prior positions in importing sugar, has had about $800 000 income. While according to some accounts, his income must reach to $5-6 million.
Are you informed about those declarations, have you seen that Samvel Alexanian or another wealthy parliamentarian, Murad Guloyan have declared that they have only a “Niva”, in answer to these questions G. Sahakian said: “I wouldn’t try. My morality won’t allow me to read anyone’s declaration and make conclusions from it. If a “Niva” is registered by his name, he must show a “Niva”.
Other parliamentarians were more pleasant in answering to our questions. For example, when we asked RPA faction parliamentarian Armen Danielian that he had noted he had no income besides his salary but at the same time he had declared “Deivu Nexia” /1995/ and “Grant Cherokee” /1994/, he answered: “I have had those cars till becoming the parliamentarian. And my parents have gifted both cars”. “People’s” deputy group leader Karen Karapetian answering the published information as if he owns only a flat and hasn’t declared about the palace near “Victory” park, he explained that it belonged to his brother, Samvel Karapetian: “He lives in Russia for many years and is considered one of the greatest businessmen in Russia. It’s logical, he can afford to build a house in his homeland.”
Karen Karapetian hasn’t also declared any income besides his salary in 2005. While he is considered the owner of “Tashir” trade center. “There are a lot of owners there. A small part of it belongs to my son, my relatives and me. Serious investments are made in “Tashir” and it isn’t an Armenian capital but Russian. Everybody must understand that the money, which were spent for “Tashir”, will be given back in 1-2 years and 7-8 years in Armenia. Business recognizes only interests, and not nation. K. Karapetian affirmed that what he had declared was true. “Before the ’90-s I have worked outside and come back to Armenia with a great capital. Before “Tashir” our family hasn’t owned any establishment here and haven’t carried out any activity in Armenia. Each member of my family works: my son owns establishments in Russia, my sisters have and me, too. So, I can spend my money as I want.”
