DOUBT EVERYONE WHO GIVES YOU SOMETHING

December 28,2006 00:00

This is ARF faction parliamentarian Alvard Petrosian’s advice to her compatriots.

Speaking on the fact in “Pastark” club yesterday that 2007 is an electoral year, Alvard Petrosian said: “I consider all elections small civil wars”, when people are at enmity with each other then are reconciled, thinking that it wasn’t worth for two neighbors, friends or relatives to be at odds. If people become wiser from it and take next step learning the previous experience… But it seems, they don’t become wiser”.
In Alvard Petrosian’s words: “The easiest thing is to accuse everyone from Tigran the Great to Robert Kocharian. But we are also guilty. As, eventually, we give birth all our kings, presidents and all our officials in power. And we don’t get national experience”. She has come to a sad conclusion; “we are in mental collapse, in very important crisis”. She also used another description, social Darwinism: “Nowadays benevolent actions are made in Armenia, which seems to me as social Darwinism. As we try to concern God, but it became clear that mankind originates from ape”. “Aravot” reminded Robert Kocharian’s latest press conference where he justified the force which advertise its benevolent activities more, noting that “Prosperous Armenia” uses simple and understandable slogans the main meaning of which is the following: “we think about people”. In answer to the question whether that action is encouraged by the first figure of the country, A. Petrosian  said in the following way: “I think the culture of benevolence is still formed in Armenia and may have such unpleasant demonstrations what exists nowadays in Armenia. At least, it is good that something is done. I don’t defend Gagik Tsaroukian or anyone else. But I think that a certain state, authority or other institution must operate which must say: limit your actions. As we must think that we live in such a country where people mustn’t be so humbled. People like beggars, a man who have begged once, will not ever forget it. And we shouldn’t politicize or gloat over the misfortunes of that evil. It’s a culture which must be imported in our people, if you do something good don’t cry about it”.
We noticed that the ARF politicians criticize the government rather easily the part of which they are but they avoid of criticizing the president. For example ARF bureau member Vahan Hovhannisian accuses the government of the anthem problem while it is obvious that it was Robert Kocharian’s initiative to change “Mer Hayrenik”. “I don’t like Aram Khachatrian’s melody,”- opposed Alvard Petrosian. – I wouldn’t say that our anthem was a fantastic one. But I think that Aram Khachatrian’s anthem wasn’t changed as usual. Khachatrian’s anthem was a quite different thing, we were destroying an Empire and we wanted to get rid of its all signs. With the same logic, Lenin’s monument was a wonderful work of art. If they want to bring Khachatrian’s melody back, they should bring other things back, too. And maybe Vahan Hovhannisian didn’t know that it wasn’t the government’s initiative.
