Lyudmila Haroutiunian, the leader of “Dignity” Party, doctor of philosophical sciences says.
A lot of people assure that political processes have turned into other sphere, and the rivalry of ideas and projects have yielded its position. Maybe this is an objective reason, taking into consideration that according to “Gallup” poll results, people don’t consider important political problems. In answer to our questions Lyudmila Haroutiunian told: “If we leave aside political slander, we’ll see that the majority of parties solves 3 problems in reality. First one includes the way of solution of geopolitical problems of Armenia or opinion on it. The second is the problem of the authority’s reproduction, or the problem which clan or political force must come to power. And the third one is personal problems, which aim to protect their own business or property.
The first problem from three is the most important. Karabakh war was a good foothold for this problem. But the parties can add nothing for the settlement of that problem as geopolitical problems are solved in higher levels, between superpowers, globalization processes. But political powers try to be involved in those processes for not to solve but for getting assistance. But there is a question, who does vote and does he face with such problems? Does a common voter solve such a geopolitical problem? No. A common voter solves the problems of his livelihood and not the problems of the authority. “Gallup” research proves that the Armenian voters have other interests, expectations and profits. Social problems are in the first place, the voter’s distrust is in the second place, the voter’s pessimism towards the elections is in the third place. On this occasion a very important question rises: whether the voter’s desires correspond with the political events: the voter should decide the way of action of parties, their projects and fate.
If we answer your question, we should say that as the voter doesn’t trust in parties, he isn’t interested in the project of the party. They know very well that the parties don’t solve any social problem, which are the most actual for the voter. We may come to some conclusions from this. Conclusion N1: the parties don’t work for the voters and their interests, profits and expectations don’t have their influence either on the style or on the project. The second conclusion is that the parties find themselves in a difficult condition for solving these three problems: that means the are out of history as today the history solves time-political and techno-military problems and not geopolitical. The speed of changes and usage of technical innovations have become more important factors than geopolitics. In this case our parties don’t answer these important changes that happen in the world. And the third conclusion is: when the voter doesn’t trust in our opposition, the reason is that they also don’t answer the voter’s social expectations.”
Lyudmila Haroutiunian thinks that nowadays Armenia needs in forces with social-democratic ideology. In answer to our question whether ARF isn’t a socialistic power, Mrs. Haroutiunian said: “ARF emphasizes nationalistic, Hay Dat problems in its strategy and don’t pay enough attention on social-democratic problems.” In answer to our observation that OEP wants to become social-democratic power, Lyudmila Haroutiunian said: “This is very important, will that party succeed in it? I saw a great logic when OEP left the authority. But the conversion from authority into opposition is very difficult, and maybe OEP haven’t succeeded to overcome that transition”.
