Samvel Harutiunyan says who has nominated his candidacy in N37 polling station by civil initiative.
– N37 polling station, together with Armavir\’s N19 polling station is one of the hottest points of the campaign. May we consider that the passions are curbed and administrative levers aren\’t used here after withdrawal of Samvel Babayan\’s candidacy?
– I don\’t want to underestimate the importance of other polling stations but I think that N37 polling station will be decisive. Not only the matter of NA parliamentary mandate and NA elections is decided here but a very important problem connected with the country development. And it is known that the most negative remarks are given to the elections in Syunik. Everybody knows that not only financial, administrative and power resources, criminal and other methods have been used here but the figures have simply been drowned. The same will be used in the upcoming elections. But I must note that I see positive intentions in people, I feel that people\’s patience has been exhausted. I\’m sure that Syunik will be a good example for triumphal struggle in Armenia.
– Can you concretize how the different levers have been used in the campaign?
– Different representatives of our authority, in particularly Minister of Territorial Governance Hovik Abrahamyan, Syunik\’s governor Surik Khachatryan and others had meetings at the State University of Syunik, or invited all heads of communities to the municipality of Goris and others before the campaign was launched on April 8. For instance all those leaders were invited to the
Municipality of Goris on February 16 where Hovik Abrahamyan, Surik Khachatryan and other leaders were praising Alexander Sargsyan who hadn\’t been nominated as a parliamentary candidate and assigned that at least 95% of votes were needed to provide in favor of him. These actions of our officials of high rank abuse their power. And all these were broadcasted on the local TV Company till February 28. After all they speak of their readiness to hold free and fair elections.
– Have you informed the OSCE observers about these facts?
– I\’m not a representative of law enforcement service or a private detective to record those meetings and produce the facts. But I call the international observers to focus their attention on the upcoming developments of N37 polling station, and I\’m sure that they will be convinced that laws are widely broken. I will be very glad if the international observers facilitate the establishment of freedom and justice but first of all we rely on us.
