The report on honoring commitments of Azerbaijan, which the PACE discussed on April 16, was rather critical. It is mentioned that the 25 percent of Azerbaijani population is poor, the volumes of corruption grow, human rights and freedom of speech are violated, the freedom of meetings is broken, the judges aren\’t independent, the parliament doesn\’t have enough authorities, the elections are rigged. It is also important that the issue of electoral commissions must also be solved, and enjoy the confidence of electorate and all political forces. One of the leaders of the Armenian oppositionist forces, who didn\’t want us to publish his name told “Aravot” that when he listened to the programs about that report “It seemed to me that Robert Kocharyan and Ilham Aliev during the meetings for the NK conflict settlement exchange their experiences about prevention their peoples\’ social and political revolts as well as democratic process instead of the NK conflict settlement. Besides, the elections are very similar in both countries: violence was used against the peaceful participants of the oppositionist\’s meetings from in Yerevan on April 5-12, 2004. Violence was also used against the opposition in Baku after Parliamentary elections. “A1+” was closed in Yerevan, and another TV Company was closed in Baku, too, pursuit of dissenters in both countries /Arman Babajanyan, Jirayr Seifilyan/, the oligarchs\’ entrance into the parliament and so on. Then they say that the negotiations don\’t give any result. Both Oskanyan and Mamedyarov were saying that negotiations are carried in favor of their countries\’ interests. It means that both are right. So, viva democracy”.
