Mushegh Saghatelyan, the parliamentary candidate of N 36 polling station affirms.
– The NA election race will be over in 15 days. How is the atmosphere in the polling station?
– The race passes according to the law. I myself have meetings with the people from the beginning of the campaign and will continue meeting till May10. The main thing I want to tell the people is to establish justice in the world.
– Have you a got a slogan?
– Yes, I have, “Together we are stronger”. Now I deal with the people of my birthplace, who think soberly, believe and trust in me. Be sure, that not everybody sell the votes and wait for those who will offer money. I am a respectful and proud person, love my homeland and those citizens whom I meet are also like me. When I see that people try to go round the law, first of all I warn them and explain that it isagainst the state and people\’s interests. It still helps but when I feel that my explanations and warnings are ignored, I\’ll resort to threats, even to power.
– So, hasn\’t the electoral bribe been distributed in your polling station?
– There are a lot of persons who want to distribute electoral bribes, but I already get the fruits of my explanations because they clearly realize, that just taking bribes makes the things worse. People have banished the bribe distributors from their villages. I will never offer people money or anything else, my offer. is my project.
– Which is that project?
– I want the law to be equally enforced on everyone. I just struggle for it. It is much more important than people’s social conditions, because nowadays situations are the result of unequal administration of law. If the law is enforced on everyone unequally and if there are persons who are more powerful than the law is, so it’s natural that one will be above, the other below. I’m sure that today the reason of the current situation is only the system of state governance. The head of the community isn’t able to come to an agreement with the owner of property and organize something useful for the community. Who is guilty for this, if not the state system and state officials? Besides the monopoly of several productions’ import in the economic sphere, the state governance system has also been monopolized, and it is dangerous. The only way to get rid of this situation is the radical change of the system of state governance, and I am for it. If the law is obeyed and has equal appeal, there can’t be any corruption. These are tales. How can a corrupted person struggle against corruption? The ways of that struggle are written in the Criminal Code of Armenia, which are invalid today. Let the authorities appeal the laws, then we’ll see whether the corruption will be flourished or not.
– Financial resources play a great role in the Armenian elections. Do you succeed in competing with your financially rich rivals?
– Yes, I succeed. If the elections are held according to the law, it will become clear what influence the finance exerts. Why have you forgotten that honor and respect are gtreater resources than the money?
– Are you the only opposition candidate at your polling station? Does it help you or impede?
– Each clever person would answer that it helps. But I have never adopted the opposition and and pro- authority concepts, because, in my opinion, each of us are guilty for the current situation in Armenia.
– You are famous for your audacity to declare your assurance about «October 27». You cast doubt the participation of two authority figures in that crime being imprisoned for it. Do you expect attacks from them.
– I don\’t expect as it may turn against them. They won’t do that.
– Don\’t the authorities impede you?
– No they don\’t but I won\’t lose my sobriety until the elections are over. I am careful and know how to fight against possible obstacles.
– What do you think, how much votes will you get?
– I\’m sure that in case of fair elections I\’ll get more than 50%. What do you think; will the elections be fair in your electoral station?
– The elections won’t be absolutely clear but I was assured after my meetings with the people that it was possible to hold fair elections.
