Ten of thousands people were crying in the opposition rally.
According to the preliminary arrangement, «Impeachment» alliance, «Republic» and «New Times» Parties held a rally where about 20-30 thousanads people took part. The rally started an hour late, the reason of which, by Vahagn Khachatryan\’s explanation, were the closed streets. V.Khachatryan noted that the three political forces show in a month that they have a lot of supporters who are ready to defend their freedom and rights and which has frightened the authorities. «This is the reason that they try to frighten us by arrests but nobody will listen to them as they have no supporters»,- V.Khachatryan told who also added in his speech that they will achieve Kocharyan\’s impeachment even if they aren\’t elected. In his words, the three forces don\’t struggle against figures but want to change the system based on Robert Kocharyan and Serge Sargsyan. V. Khachatryan told that according to their researches, about 800 000 persons may participate in the elections, though the authorities intend to «draw» 1, 4 million participation. If more than 800000 participation is registered, the elections have been rigged. In that case, the true elections will be transferred to Republic Square.
Mikael Hayrapetyan reminded RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan\’s statement that the opposition must be able to gather 30 000 citizens in its rally to have a right to speak about assuming the authority. «Now we are much more and speak about assuming the authority», – Mikael Hayrapetyan told.
Nikol Pashinyan declared: «Our country acquires stanch and audacious citizens. Our next stop is the impeachment and the formula of victory is «never stop, doubt and hesitate». There aren\’t policemen, journalists, officials today. There is simply a question: «Are you a citizen or aren\’t?» He also told that the authorities have frightened people by unreasonable searches and arrests. They say: amounts have been found from their flats. If we search Serge Sargsyan himself and not his apartment, we\’ll find so much money that won\’t be found at any citizen\’s flat. »
V. Khachatryan also told that the elections had already been rigged and if they try to rig the result of voting, too, the punishment will be unavoidable. «There is no expire date for it. In case of normal elections these authorities won\’t remain even a day. We don\’t request votes; we struggle for your vote to be decisive. »
Academician Rafael Ghazaryan had come to the opposition\’s rally who was ill and was being accompanied. He made a speech and declared: «I\’m ready to help you with my weak power; we are obliged to save the country from this wolf pack. They are our and our children’s hostile enemies. I beg you don’t sell your votes, your consciousness, and your dignity. Who sells his vote is a little Judas. You are the people at which the whole world was surprising in 1988. If the authority sees your straithened back it will become crooked. »
«Republic» Party leader Aram Sargsyan told that the elections have two phases «before May 12, next is just May 12, and we\’ll struggle that day till the end. » He also assured that the rest of opposition forces also say that they will go out the square in case of rigged elections: «We say come and join. If the opposition was unified in time the authorities wouldn\’t exist any more. Who didn\’t join should justify his step but the way isn\’t closed and people are ready to forgive you».
