Or how “imperceptibely” the parliamentary elections were rigged.
On the second half of Sunday the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia published the preliminary results of the political forces participated in the parliamentary elections by proportional electoral system on May 12. According to those results five parties have overpassed the 5 percent obstacles. The representatives of three parties didn’t sign the summarizing protocol: Sona Sargsyan from OEP, Felix Khachatryan from «Justice» and Zaven Pluzyan from «National Unity».
According to the preliminary results of the RA1923 electoral stations, Republican Party of Armenia /457 032 for or 32,8% of voters/, «Prosperous Armenia» Party /204 443 for or 14,7% of voters, ARF /177 192 for or 12,7% of votes, «Rule of Law» Party /95 256 votes for or 6,8%/, «Heritage» Party /80 890 votes or 5,8 percent / will be represented in the NA. Three forces from the opposition which participated in the elections by proportional electoral system and are considered «radicals» got accordingly: “Impeachment” got 17 808 votes, “New Times” got 47 018 votes, “Republic” got 22 609 votes. Just these parties held a demonstration in Freedom square which they have planned beforehand and declared that they didn’t recognize the results of elections. The speakers of the demonstration said that the authorities did everything to make the frauds «imperceptible». The representatives of three forces affirm that the elections have been rigged everywhere. And not all known methods of electoral frauds / electoral bribes, adminstrative resources etc./were used but a new technology of electoral irregularities to make them imperceptible. «Impeachment» alliance member Nikol Pashinyan represented that new technology of frauds which seemed imperceptible at the first sight. First of all he noted that «the elections have been rigged very awfully, but today we simply give a question: how did it happen? All participants of the elections, observers have seen that the number of those citizens who voted with new passports was very big. In our opinion, the mechanism of frauds is hidden just here, as there are reasons to think that the elections were rigged just in the same way: the authorities have printed about 400 thousands new passports by the name of those citizens who have left the country or are dead. There had been true names and surnames in the passports but with photos of other persons. Do you remember that the RPA and PAP members wanted photos of the citizens. Now we have some reasons to affirm that those citizens have been gathered and formed a mobile voting group, and each person of that group has had about 10 passports with his photo but different names, sirnames and address. Those citizens have been registered in different polling stations, they have voted then went to the RPA headquarter, gave their passports back and took other passports with their photos but other names and vote in other polling station. I myself have seen some kind of polling lists in the RPA headquarter with the names of dead citizens». In N. Pashinyan\’s opinion, it s very difficult to record that new method of electoral frauds as when you see the same person in another polling station you demand his passport and see that everything is corresponding.» N. Pashinyan concluded that about 400 thousands votes have been rigged with the help of that new technology.
We should remind that according to the information published i the press on May 13 « Citizens are brought to vote in 3/28 who don\’t live in that district. They had new passports. According to the complaints, they had passports by the names of absent citizens». Another voter represented himself as a dweller of N36 house and when the OEP member of the commission recognized him and demanded his passport , he has run away.
Taking into consideration the «interception» of new technology of frauds, we should register another sad fact: at least 400 thousands citizens were ready to cooperate with the current authorities for making frauds and irregularities in the elections. The opposition trio demanded to recognize invalid the results of elections to appoint new NA elections where the RPA and PAP won’t participate. The organizers of the meeting called the public to gather at the same place on the coming Friday, promising that the opposition’s struggle isn’t over, and they will make any effort for the declared impeachment come true.
