Party leader Artashes Geghamyan told that his party worries about the possible developments of his country.
– It was obvious during the campaign that people were receiving “National Unity” very warmly but other forces were elected, why did it happen so?
– In my opinion, the value system hasn\’t established in Armenia yet, and we do make any effort to form such a system of values to make this kind of surprises impossible in the political and public life of Armenia. This is the problem and it belongs both to the opposition and the authority. The challenges our republic has already faced are challenges not for the authority or a group of politicians but are dangers for the whole of our nation. For those parties who are eager to win seats in the parliament, were trying to solve some problems, while “National Unity” has set certain goals during the campaign and it hasn\’t lost its actuality yet. That goal is to unify the nation as we see the triumphal factor to get rid of this situation in the national unity. I don\’t mean post electoral developments, I mean difficult geopolitical and anti-Armenian developments we have faced these days.
– According to some analyses, the defeated oppositionists are disappointed, sad, while other opposition forces hold meetings. What about your party?
– “National Unity” is anxious, but not for its rating but for the possible developments of our country. It is obvious that it is impossible to solve serious republican problems when the nation isn\’t united, just the opposite, so all our actions will aim to save our state from dangers. We aren\’t disappointed, as those persons are disappointed who feel that their ideology isn\’t actual for the people any more. Instead we were assured after the elections that nowadays greatest problem is the nation\’s unification. In this context our anti-crisis project will be more requested.
– It is spoken that the main part of our citizens preferred electoral bribes because of difficult social conditions. Do you also think the same?
– The wisdom of politician depends on his capability to analyze the people whom he intends to lead. We shouldn\’t observe the people\’s desperation as a main factor but to analyze the reasons of non-adequate activities of the political forces.
– Several politicians have already declared about their nomination in the presidential elections, will you also nominate your candidacy?
– The point isn\’t the own participation in the elections but it is much more important for us to save people from dangerous developments that threat our country. We haven\’t discussed the point of nomination yet. Maybe you remember from the history when the Russian Empire lost the Crimea war in 1856, Minister of Foreign affairs of Russia Alexander Michaylovich Gorchakov told his opponents: “everybody says that Russia is angry, it isn\’t, Russia concentrates”. “National Unity” also concentrates. We should concentrate, understand in which situation the country is, which are outside threats, which are the current challenges inside the country. I think it will be better for the country to understand the challenges it has faced.” Artashes Geghamyan also added: “Today our silence should be mysterious, as we are concentrating”.
