PPA leader Stepan Demirchyan told in his interview to «Aravot» daily that he would do his best for the formation of opposition force.
– What do you think about core or joint opposition candidate for the upcoming presidential elections?
– We must take the public demand into consideration. I was nominated in 2003 because my nomination was demanded. Now a joint candidate is demanded, so we should have very constructive position here, we’ll do everything, to create a true force with a winning candidate. There is a public demand for consolidation. By the way, remember what we were saying before the parliamentary elections. We were accused of not holding revolution. But what were we saying? We were saying that if an alliance is being formed before the parliamentary elections, the question of the candidate should also be solved. We were saying that the complex should have a complex solution.
– Do you negotiate on this issue?
– There is some kind of discussion with different parties.
– There are several names for the possible presidential nomination: Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Vazgen Manukyan, several politicians declared about their nomination after the elections. Who will be the possible candidate?
– I can’t give any concrete name, there is no meaning.
– So if your noted alliance was formed in time with a joint candidate, the result of parliamentary elections would be quite different.
– I think it would be different. So there is no mean to speak about it, as there has been no elections, no political struggle in
– If that force is formed about which you told me, will it be possible to win the authority candidate, Serge Sargsyan in this case?
– If it is spoken about the elections there are candidates who have chances to win in the elections, we should create such an opposition force which can win in the elections and hold fair elections.
