NKR elects its second president.
The speeches of NKR three presidential candidates from five became aphorisms and anecdotes. One of them, Armen Abgaryan (Amulya), who almost didn’t use the free air time said during one of the interview in answer to the question where his project is, that he will present his project after being elected.
The secon candidate, Hrant Melkumyan, the first secretary of the NKR Central Committee of the Communist Party who is also the heda of Control Service of the NKR government\’s staff, declared: «I work as a laborer in the Government». He also complained once: «The majority thinks that if the communists come to power, they can restore what they have lost. They give strange questions as if I\’m a magician».
As for another candidate, 73 year old doctor of technical science Vanya Avanesyan whose own garage is his electoral headquarters. This candidate is going to eliminate the inequality of pension but when one of the journalists asked him how much is the budget of Artsakh, he answered: «Give me another question, I\’m not a financier, you will know when I become president».
These three candidates don\’t complain about the process of campaign. They even expressed their positive opinion about Bako Sahakyan. Vanya Avanesyan declared that he would like to see Sahakyan in the post of the president.
Perhaps the law, according to which the results of polling shouldn\’t be published a week before the elections aren\’t valid in NKR, as the polling results of Karen Ohanjanian\’s leading «Helsinki initiative-92» were published several days ago. According to those results, 384 people among 500 are going to give their votes to Bako Sahakyan, 53 of them to Armen Abgaryan, Masis Mayilyan is in the third place, and only 46 members are going to give him votes (9, 2%). Only 17 citizens will vote for Hrant Melkumyan, and nobody is going to vote for Vanya Avanesyan.
In this occasion Masis Mayilyan hoped that the voting process would be fare: «This must be done for Artsakh image, if the elections are illegal, it will be a big blow on democratic image of our country, besides we may loose the entire positive we have achieved».
