Margaret Minasyan, the head of «Tsaig» TV Company explains in this way that they were also deprived of frequency together with «Azatutiun» b/s.
«Tsaig» TV Company of Gyumri was being telecasted since 1999. «These were those years, when having an own TV Company was almost utopia, but our founders made great efforts to form it, which became the first non-state TV Company in Armenia», Margarita Minasyan told. When «Shant» TV Company separated from «Tsaig» they were both being telecasted from the same frequency untill «Shant» was provided by another frequency. Then «Tsaig» began to share it with the public TV of Shirak which now has 4 hours of broadcasts. The rest of 20 hours belonged to «Tsaig» in accordance with the agreement signed by head of «TV Network of Armenia» Ashot Simonyan.
«The government adopted a decision in 2002 by which that frequency was given to the Public TV and Radio company of Shirak, -Ms. Minasyna told. – While that frequency was state and had no license and wasn\’t allocated to any TV Company. As the Public TV and Radio Company couldn\’t provide so much frequency , we continued our work, refreshing the agreements annually».
In answer to our question whether they have ever been warned that «Tsaig» might be deprived of its frequency , the chairman of that TV Company told: « The contract was again signed on April 4, 2006, and an agreement was signed in January, according to which the term of validity of that agreement was prolonged till December 31, 2007». « When I was informed by fax that our telecasting was being stopped as the Council of PTRC had made a decision , was unexpected for me as no commerce company creates its projects and counts budget for a frequency , which can be deprived at any moment,- Margarita Minasyan told. «I informed that they should send that letter to Ashot Simonyan who should make arrangements and inform me about the reasons for the agreement liquidation as I signed the agreement with the TV network of Armenia» Company.
We should note that «Tsayg» collaborates with «A1+». Margaret Minasyan considers a certain political pretext in that decision: «I don\’t know whether there is the problem of policy that «Tsaig» has carried out. There was already a proper time to take revenge on our TV Company.
