Hovhaness Hovhanisyan, the leader of Liberal Progressive Party of Armenia makes a suggestion on possible political developments: Levon Ter-Petrosyan- President, Serge Sargsyan-Prime Minister.
Mr. Hovhanisyan also participates in the regional visits of the First President and is sure that the latter is the only person who will be able to change the situation in
We noticed that Mr. Hovhanisyan was calling Levon Ter-Petrosyan “president” instead of calling “first president”. Mr. Hovhanisyan reminded: “It is a common order, there is no former president or prime minister, Levon Ter-Petrosyan is President, and we should call him President”.
We also were interested what is Mr. Hovhanisyan’s opinion about other presidential candidates, in particular Serge Sargsyan, Vazgen Manukyan, Arthur Baghdasaryan and others. It became clear that our interlocutor wasn’t sure that the above-mentioned politicians would nominate their candidacy: “ It is too early to speak about them as presidential candidates, since it is not clear yet who will nominate his candidacy for the presidential elections. But it is much more essential that we should understand that in case of which politician’s nomination our problems will be solved”.
We noticed that nowadays the ruling RPA has very serious intention to participate and win in the presidential elections, and we can’t take this power into consideration. In answer to this Mr. Hovhanisyan said that if the RPA hold the presidential position, it will mean that a dictatorship will be set up. He also didn’t deny the possibility of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination in the post of the president and Serge Sargsyan’s nomination in the PM position. In his opinion: “this is a hypothesis but is not bad for the stability of development of the country. If our aim is the stability of the country, NK conflict settlement, the PM should realize that Levon Ter-Petrosyan will solve the problems of the foreign policy in the best way. There is a need of collaboration, which allows to provide both the economic stability of the country and political progress.”
