RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan elucidates 3 criminal cases for three media representatives.
Alexander Arzumanyan\’s case
Prosecutor General confirmed the “Aravot\’s” information that he had ordered to set former Foreign Minister Alexander Arzumanyan free: “An investigation group was sent to Moscow, and a prosecutor was also included in that group. After examining the materials of the criminal case and after the reports of the group, I ordered to set Alik Arzumanyan free”. He noted that the accusation was still the same. “I was assured that our law enforcement bodies did everything , all investigating actions have been fulfilled both in Armenia and Russian Federation. We wait for the RF reply, and it will last long, so in this case it wasn\’t proper to keep Mr. Arzumanyan under arrest”.
We reminded that the former foreign minister was arrested “for legalizing money which he received from Levon Markos by criminal way. In answer to our notification that when it was confirmed that the amount was transferred by Sashik Aghazaryan whether it was proper to keep him under arrest, Mr. Hovsepyan said: “Just for that reason we set him free. The whole mechanism of money transfer proves the crime of money laundry: those amounts have been transferred illegally.” He also added: ” Alik Arzumanyan himself didn\’t manage to explain the mechanisms and purposes of receiving those amounts”.
Anyway the case is still under investigation. Corresponding decisions will be made according to further information.”
On Sedrak Zatikyan\’s case
The investigation of the criminal case on former head of Malatia-Sebastia district Sedrak Zatikyan\’s murder is over. That crime was connected with the name of NA parliamentarian Hakob Hakobyan\’s relatives a year ago. In answer to our question whether that version was confirmed, the Prosecutor replied: “We have sent the criminal case towards three persons as a result of investigation. Two persons are wanted. After detection and arrest of those persons we\’ll be able to complete our decision.” He also confirmed that Stepan Hakobyan (who is wanted) ordered to kill Sedrak Zatikyan, he is the son of NA parliamentarian Hakob Hakobyan\’s brother. In answer to “Azatutiun” b/s what was the motivation of that murder, Mr. Hovsepyan said : “It may be dictated by hostile relations”.
On the case of Lori\’s Prosecutor
According to some sources the murder of Albert Ghazaryan is connected with those persons who are in close relations with Aghvan Hovsepyan: we mean former NA parliamentarian Vahram Baghdasaryan. In answer to our question whether that version is also examined, the Prosecutor General said: “A plan of corresponding actions have been designed, and all possible versions are being examined and checked”. He also added that all versions mostly refer to Albert Ghazaryan\’s activities as a prosecutor.
