Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan declared in the NA yesterday.
After the Constitutional amedments the NA is in commission to appoint the RA Prosecutor by the RA President\’s proposal for 6 years. Before the NA sitting, Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan met with the lawmakers from «Heritage» Party. RPA faction member Karen Karapetyan was present in the meeting, who participated Aghvan Hovsepyan\’s meeting with OEP. ARF faction leader Hrayr Karapetyan told after the meeting with the latter that they still have issues to discuss, in particular there are still issues on corruption, which Aghvan Hovsepyan should answer: what project does he have and how is he going to find aganst them? Anyway, only 4 lawmakers from 22 were from ARF who wanted to give questions to the Prosecutor.
ARF faction member Gagik Gevorgyan was interested in the criminal case fled on the occasion of accident death of 12 years old Robert Simonyan in Gyumri on 20 May. In Aghvan Hovsepyan\’s opinion it has been proved that: « He died from a grenade explosion in a house. There had been no third persion in the house, no criminal action has been registered».
Viktor Dallakyan gave a question about former Foreign Minister Alexander Arzumanyan. And on this occasion the Prosecutor «uncover secrets». In particular he detected that the reason of the criminal case filed by the NSS was the following: « Interceptions have been made allowed by the RA law and court. As a result it was found the connection of those persions with the receivers». He denied the affirmation that it is allowed to bring acriminal case against each citizen of Armenia in the same way. «It is not so. I as a prosecutor general want allow it».
Heghine Bisharyan was interested whether it was not possible to set Arman Babajanyan free, since he was a journalist. Mr. Hovsepyan explained that it was imposiible and noted: «This crime was committed when Arman Babajanyan\’s mother was working in the RA President\’s staff using her position as a staff member. That time Arman Babajanyan was neither a journalist nor editor».
Viktor Dallakyan\’s another quetsion was about the situation in vanadzor after Prosecutor of Lori Albert Ghazaryan\’s murder. He affirms that witnesses are made to give false evidence. Mr. Hovsepyan denied saying that the people\’s connection with the related accusation was being checked before their testimony. The Prosecutor General also added: «I am not inclined to provide disclosure of the criminal case at any cost. At the same time, I am not inclined to keep the murder undetected».
