HAMMARBERG IS ASTONISHED

Thomas Hammarberg, the CE defender of human rights visited several structures of Shirak region (Municipality of Gyumri, police, prison in Artik) to be introduced to the women rights, rights of dwellers who still live in “carriages”. Entering into several “carriages”  and speaking to several citizens, Mr. Hammarberg didn’t hide his astonishment: “What I saw was tragic, people still live in such conditions though 19 years passed. The main human right is to live in normal conditions, it is spoken about normal apartment, not about luxury, people should have water, elementary sanitarian conditions, and they should be defended from the rats.”
