The amendments of the “Electoral Code” were adopted by first hearing yesterday.
“Rule of Law” faction’s secretary Heghine Bisharyan was warning in vain not to change the “Electoral Code”. The parliamentary majority adopted the amendments made by the majority.
“Heritage” Party had proposed that not only the candidate but his supporters as well shouldn’t give pre-electoral promises about financial assistance. This proposal was adopted by RPA faction secretary Samvel Nikoyan who presents the “EC” amendments.
ARF has proposed to determine the duration of chargeable political announcement.
All parliamentary forces, except PAP and RPA don’t agree with the EC amendment according to which the presidential candidate should be assigned by an alliance). But Samvel Nikoyan doesn’t want to admit that the presidential candidate who will be nominated by an alliance or various political forces will be more forceful than a self-nominated candidate. “Tell me what functional importance do alliance have during the presidential elections, what kind of problem do the alliances solve? The voters should understand that the political force nominates presidential candidacies that the political force nominates the candidacy that the political will be responsible for projects of the political force, which should be achieved by the president”. This means that if Robert Kocharyan nominates his candidacy, no political force will support him because all forces which supported him during the previous elections have their own presidential candidacies, and the current president’s slogan “My party is my people” is not actual any more.
