Businessman parliamentarian Khachatur Sukiasyan describes RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s return in this way.
Nikol Pashinyan opened the mass meeting invited by Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Leader of “Republic” Party Aram Sargsyan noting that the last months have become for the Armenian people a period of recovery and public, civil, future\’s new uprising and alluded to those persons who assume risks in sake of public interests: Judge Pargev Ohanyan, Head of “Sill” Concern Khachik Sukiasyan, owner of “Royal Armenia” Gagik Hakobyan, owner of “GALA” TV Company of Gyumri Vahan Khachatryan. He is sure that “those persons prove that there are still fighters for justice in The RA that the struggle in favor of justice is not meaningless and we are obliged to win. Those people proved that Serge Sargsyan doesn\’t know our people very well, and has no idea of their way of thinking”.
People\’s Party of Armenia, “Republic” Party, Armenian National Movement, Liberal Progressive Party of Armenia, Social Democratic Hnchak Party, “Democratic Homeland”, “Conservative” Parties declared about their support to Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s candidacy. It was also declared that “Homeland and Honor” Party led by Garnik Margaryan and former Prime Minister\’s leading “Freedom” Party had joined the united opposition.
PPA leader Stepan Demirchyan condemned the violence used against Narek Galstyan, noting that “the authorities with the help of criminal elements try to weaken the opposition movement, and establish atmosphere of fear in the country. It is obvious that they will reach the opposite result”.
In his words “only a question will be solved in the upcoming presidential elections: should we live in these criminal conditions or should we lay the basis for qualitative changes? If cynicism unifies several powers, the wish to use advantages of the authority, the aspiration to have a dignified life has united us”. Denying the affirmation as if Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s return is a return to the past, Mr. Demirchyan said: the First President\’s experience paves a serious way for the prosperous future.
Leader of “Republic” Party Aram Sargsyan thanked those TV and Radio Companies which dared announce about the mass meeting: among them are “GALA”, Tsaig” TV companies from Gyumri, “Tamut” TV Company in Tavush, FM 105.5, “Radio Hay”. Khachatur Sukiasyan appeared on stage to the thunderous applause of his supporters and said in his speech: ” Each RA citizen has a right to freely express his political views. But the authority tries to take that value which belongs to all of us. We, the RA citizens, think that we have enough power and decisiveness to defend those values which are on the basis of our state system.
Unfortunately our history also needs in defense because it is also disowned. It is very hard to find a state in the history which has faced a disaster, collapse of empire, war, refugees, blockade, and collapse of ruble system, political and financial crisis in the same period and has survived. A lot of people have forgotten that our blockaded homeland was backing the war”. In the businessman\’s opinion if there were omissions and mistakes in the past but now Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s return means the return of seriousness, breadth of thinking and reality. “As a man I am proud of backing Levon Ter-Petrosyan, as a citizen I understand that Levon Ter-Petrosyan\’s return is coming from our country\’s interest. I also know that dozens of businessmen, founders of gig establishments welcome Mr. Ter-Petrosyan\’s return. A lot of businessmen, like me are sure that equal and dignified cooperation of business and authority is the guarantee of our country\’s development”,- Khachatur Sukiasyan said calling his partner businessmen to remove the feeling of fear, indifference, appraise their power, realize the businessman\’s social responsibility to the people. Otherwise “we will forget all our developments”.
